I started doing portraits almost 3 years ago– my first one was a pretty rudimentary one of William Shakespeare– only 3 colors in the palette! I upgraded quickly to a portrait of Morrissey, then a more detailed one of Bjork, then Johnny Cash– all of those had 7 colors or less. The most detailed portrait I have ever done is the one of Hillary Rodham Clinton & Barack Obama, which measures 4×6 inches and has a 75 color pallette. It’s more than 11,000 stitches total.
